In international trade, the mark is a transliteration of the "mark" head, which is to set up a mark on the packaging of the goods, usually composed of some letters, simple graphics and numbers. One refers to the meaning of a trademark, and the second refers to a mark that is marked on the packaging of the goods with words, graphics and marks so as to identify a batch of goods that is different from another batch of goods.

Its main contents include consignee code, destination port (place) name, reference number (Letter of Credit, contract number), number of goods and batch number. In addition, some transportation signs also include the origin, contract number, license number, volume and weight. The contents of the transportation signs are complicated, and the seller and the buyer agree on the characteristics of the goods and the specific requirements.

The packaging box is usually printed or affixed to the mark, generally divided into two parts, one is the front mark (DS), ITEM; the other is the side mark (side mark): ITEM NO, PCS / CTN, NW, GW, MEAS. The side labels include: the name of the sketch, the number of pieces, the gross weight, and the size of the outer box.

If the whole cabinet is shipped, the mark is more complicated, and N / M can be substituted on the document. If the LCL is shipped, the mark on the document must be the same as the actual mark. If it is complicated and the document is not displayed enough, you can use the label on the document.

So what role does the mark have in practice?

1. For the consignor, the mark marks are convenient for management, statistics and calculation, and the transportation is arranged to prevent the occurrence of serial shipments and wrong shipments.
2. For customs inspection, marks are easy to supervise the import and export of goods, and are released according to batch inspection.
3. For the carrier, from the warehouse to the delivery and transportation transit, the sea-air combined transportation to the destination port, it is convenient and quick to refer to the mark to check the delivery. This is especially important when mixing bulk cargo.
4. For the consignee, there is relevant information on the product on the mark. You can know the content directly by looking at the outer box, which is convenient for picking up the goods. The consignee generally only looks at the side label.
